This isn’t fast food.
This is what fast food wishes it tasted like.
Crispy, golden fried chicken. A glossy, sticky glaze that hits sweet first…then lets the heat creep in just enough to remind you who’s in charge.
Welcome to your new obsession.
🔥 Sweet Heat Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Crispy. Saucy. Slightly dangerous.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 boneless chicken breasts (butterflied or pounded thin)
- Salt + black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Oil for frying
- Brioche buns
- Pickles (must have)
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup Pretty Vicious Sweet Heat BBQ Sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Optional Slaw (Highly Recommended):
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Salt to taste
Let’s Get Into It:
1. Marinate the Chicken
Soak chicken in buttermilk, salt, and pepper for at least 30 minutes (overnight if you’re planning ahead).
2. Dredge
Mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, and garlic powder.
Dredge chicken → back into buttermilk → dredge again for that crispy coating.
3. Fry
Heat oil to 350°F. Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Rest on a rack.
4. Build the Glaze
In a pan, warm Pretty Vicious Sweet Heat BBQ Sauce with honey and vinegar until glossy.
5. Toss or Brush
Lightly coat the chicken in sauce or brush it on for control.
Build the Sandwich:
- Toast your brioche bun
- Layer crispy chicken
- Add pickles
- Top with slaw
- Optional: extra drizzle of sauce (highly encouraged)
🔥 Chef Tip:
Don’t drown it in sauce. This isn’t about excess—it’s about balance. Let the crunch come through, then let the sauce finish the job.
Final Word:
This is how you take something familiar… and make it unforgettable.
Sweet first. Savage finish.
